It looks like a native Hellebore. If you leave it the seeds will go everywhere and could swamp you in seedlings. I cut the whole flowered stems on mine to keep them tidy.
Looks like a peony seed head to me.

Many thanks to all. I was worried if I took the pods of it would die. I will cut it off. Will it flower any more or does it only flower once a year .
