Skimming Japonica Rubella

I plant one of these last year in clay soil. The red berries turned into white flowers but they have now all gone. I did see birds picking at them.  Will they come back?

Yes, they'll grow berries again. Just the seasonal changes

Other way round - the flowers will turn into berries  image

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • Ok thanks very much. They're just stalks now and don't look very pretty! image

They're evergreens Jules so should be leafy just now. image

Is your soil alkaline? Needs to be neutral to acid - they won't thrive in alkaline soil. A pic would help if you can manage one. image

It's Skimmia, of course, not "skimming".image

Rubella is male so won't give berries.  It has red buds turning into flowers.  If it's berries you get that's a female plant (or a dual sex like reevesiana - however it's spelled).
