Diseases in rambling roses
My Grandmother has a rambling rose growing up the front of her house which she planted 36 years ago. She has had no problems with it in all this time. It has thrived and produced blooms in abundance every year. Recently, we have noticed the bark on the main trunk has started to peel and some of the new stems high up have started to die and go brown. Does anyone have any idea as to what could be causing these symptoms please? Thanks.

Sounds like it needs renovating really. Climbers need renovating every few years or even yearly really. If you post a picture I'll tell you what to do.
Sorry re read it was a rambler they need the flowered stems taking out every year after flowering. This gives you new stems to produce flowers every year. Mind you it might need a total renovation.
