New Hawthorn Whips Failing

Hello,

A few months back in early spring I planted a row of Hawthorn whips and plants to reinvigorate a neglected hedge. Having been out to inspect this hedge I've found some orange spots - the plant appears to be struggling.

Any ideas what this could be? If this is a disease, how can I treat it?imageimage

Thanks

    Its hawthorn rust.

A fungal disease, the leaves look bad, may fall off, but the plant will recover.

Thanks for the very quick reply. Is there anything I need to do in order to prevent or cure this? Will it come back next year?

Pick up all fallen leaves and burn, but there is usually something else like a cedar, where it overwinters and then comes back. There is no spray available for domestic use in the uk.   It is worse in damp humid conditions. I had it really bad last year, not much this year.
