    My dad always said  my mum did hem stitching and he did the whitewashing! Neither of them did anything of the sort but you know what he meant. 

    My husband did hedges and ditches and I did froo froos apparently.

    Pp improving an aspect with alcmol is like improving a meal with parsnips. It can't be done.

    I let the OH off the leash to go to a nearby nursery and pick up 6 photinia 'Red Robin' for a hedge. Even wrote it down. He came back with six bushes which he told me were called 'Ozymandius'. His reasoning? These are prettier. image

    I take it he means Osmanthus so you will at least get scented flowers - when it's big enough and as long as you don't clip back the flowering shoots each year........

    My osmanthus has been in 5 years, is very slow to grow and has not yet flowered.   Expecting better things now we've put windbreak fabric on the perimeter wire mesh fencing.

    I like Red Robin hedges.   They go red again after being clipped.
