A number of plants that need identifying.

Hi All,

I'm a new gardener but keen.

Recently moved into new house where the previous occupants obviously loved the garden. I am keen to "get out there" but I am struggling to work out if some of the low should be kept or killed or rather weeds or not weeds.

Any experts that can help shed some light?

Kill or keep?

Hi Scott, sorry I can't help with the shrubby ones but in photo one the sword shaped leaves with ridges look like my "crocosmia Lucifer" .

The one with the little pink flower in photo three is a weed called willowherb, pull it up before it self seeds everywhere.

the one after the willowherb looks like enchanter's nightshade.

Perfect - I will remove the willowsherb and the nightshade.

Just the shrubs to go now ☺️

Enchanters nightshade, Circaea lutetiana is a right b.......r to get rid of, It spreads around my garden and completely ignores me. Common names are a menace, this is in the same family as willowherb and evening primrose and completely unrelated to anything else called nightshade

    Could pictures 1 & 2 be Peony?

could you do some more pics of that one including stems. Is it woody like a shrub or dying back to nothing in the winter?

I'd like to see what's under the leaves, how it grows out of the ground.

If it's a paeony it's not one I know but there is something paeony-like about it.

Hey Nutcutlet - not sure if this is any clearer - but try these.

    Does that help?

This could be a paeony but not like any of mine. The stems look good for it. I'd leave it alone and see how it grows, don't cut bits off till you know what it is. If it is paeony it's a tree paeony, those stems aren't herbaceous

Thanks - i agree. Let's see what happens late summer and beyond. Now I have just one left to find ☺️

This mystery. It did flower about a month back with very small green/yellow flowers - bees loved it.
