Cacti has yellowing at the soil line!

image

Hi there!

I'm wondering if someone could help me here! I've had my Bunny Eared Cacti for about 3 weeks now and today it needed reporting as the roots were growing through the bottom.

When I was repotting I noticed yellowing on the cacti at the soil line (where the previous soil had been covering)

Now, I did a little research and it said it could be too much light (this is in a window sill in full light) or that it's been watered too much (I only water when the soil is dried out)

Thought it would be best to post a picture and ask for some advice!

Thankimage you!

Hi ShannonLee. What compost have you used to repot this Opuntia? I only ask as the picture shows a compost that looks rather wet for a cactus. It should be a very gritty mix to allow sharp drainage. I suspect that the yellow line may be caused by too much water in the compost.

  • Hi Ladies!

Thank you very much for your replies. The compost I'm using is a Cacti Compost from my Local Gardening Shop, it is very dark and is fibrous! I'll have a look and see if I can get my hands on another brand of Cacti Compost for the future! I did give the Cacti a little spray over as the compost before re potting was dry all the way through but I didn't fully drench or water the cacti as I was worried about the yellowing! image

This is the first ever Larger Cactus that I've owned, so your help is greatly appreciated!

Fab! I'll be keeping it in the Sunny Windowsill image

    Thanks again for your replies!image
