Vinegar as a weedkiller
Hello all,
Has anyone tried white vinegar as a weedkiller. I'm led to believe it does a good job but haven't spoken to anyone that's actually tried it...
Would it take down a dandelion she ponders??
Apart from the risk of upsetting the neighbours by causing my bricked over front drive to stink for a while, I can't see any harm in trying. I'll report back (but still keen to know others experiences).

Will await your results but I am somewhat sceptical. I have heard that putting salt right in the centre of a dandelion will kill it but I have never tried that either.
I've tried malt vinegar and it works especially on a warm day but find it doesn't kill the roots
I may be wrong but didn't Bristol council recently use vinegar as a weed killer, which caused a lot of complaints about the smell? But if the council decided to use it then it must be effective
Ps I have just noticed my reply above, the lot who redesigned this forum, must also come from Bristol!
PPS, what ever happened to Bristol shape and fashion!
Can I use watered down malt vinegar as a feed for my hydrangeas? just turned out my cupboards and found 2 out of date bottles lurking at the back!
Since this thread is about killing plants with vinegar that seems an odd question.

Can malt vinegar go out of date? I thought it was a preservative.
re Bristol's use of vinegar see http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2016/04/24/why-does-bristol-smell-of-vinegar-its-weed-killer/
I wouldn't use it. It will kill a few easy weeds I'm sure. along with countless invertebrates in the soil
