What's this creature ?

image Can anyone tell me whats atacking my plants, its on carrots, lettuce, chilli an in th photo corrander, and how to get rid of them ?

    Hi skiday. The stripey things look like ladybird pupae and the other things are aphids. Ladybirds eat aphids so if that is what they could be I would wait and see what happens.

  • If you look at the image at full size, the stripey things are not ladybird pupae, they look more like larger aphids of some kind, but it is hard to tell.

    I've just looked on google and they do look like some of the ladybird pupae on there.

    I agree with ladybird, ladybird larvae about to eat aphids.

    Let them be for a few days.

    Aha Thanks guy's for your help im still a very green novice, looks like ther lily aphids.

    How can i encourage the lily aphids to leave  ?

    Try mixing one or two drops of washing-up liquid (or other very mild detergent) with water in a hand sprayer and spraying them.  This breaks the surface tension of the water and effectively drowns them.  On stronger plants you can use the spray attachment on a garden hose to blast them off.  Encouraging wildlife such as ladybirds, hoverflies and small birds is the best thing to do in the longer term as these all eat aphids.
