Can anyone identify this shrub for me please? It is about 6 or 7 feet tall, and has long spears of small pink flowers, just starting to die off now (June) so it is spring flowering.
I'd like to buy one for the garden as it's beautiful!
Hi there. The shrub is Weigela. Possibly Weigela florida Rosea. Lovely plant and they come in dark rose pink and a variegated leaf form too. Plus the bees love it
Cacoethes: An irresistible urge to do something inadvisable
I have Weigela Bristol Ruby and the variegated Weigela florida variegata (which has been spectacular this year) which is going over now but Ruby is coming into her prime. Really love them.

Thank you so much - I shall definitely go and buy one. Are they fast growing or slow growing. Sorry to be so ignorant, but I've never had a garden before so I'm very new to all this.
Not especially fast growing, but you could reckon on 25-30cm growth or so. You prune back immediately after flowering has finished to promote new shoots, these will flower the following year. Don't be tempted to leave pruning to Autumn or Spring or you'll get no flowers at all!
I have a variegated one in my garden too which, like Ladybird4's, had been just beautiful this year. Definitely recommend! Gather they're quite easy to propagate as well.

It's a Weigela. A good garden centre should have several varieties.
