Wisteria 'Amethyst Falls' on a SEE wall

Its all in the title really. Got the wisteria as an anniversary present from my parents, and we need climbers to replace a dead plant on our front wall. However, this wall is facing SEE. Am I setting myself up for a terrible flower display if I plant it there?

Is this replacing the dead hydrangea? That aspect is absolutely fine for wisteria. I am assuming SEE means south east? Perfect for wisteria.

  • Ah, thanks again ladybird!

Yeah, sorry SEE is south east, but much more 'east' than 'south'. I forget my geology training - maybe should've been ESE?! That sounds better...

i kept reading snippets about getting poor flowering when east-facing, so was a bit worried!

  • Thanks, Doghouse.

I certainly have been reading up on the winter and summer pruning, and watching the RHS videos. I really want it to flourish. Nothing sadder than a neglected climber (which I've just realised is what people probably think we they pass my house and see the old hydrangea!)
