Little fly-type critters
I have three raised beds which are almost 'moving' with little flies... if they are flies. I did spread manure in the winter/early spring but that was everywhere, and this only these beds.
They are the ones I use for veg so I'm not so thrilled that they are infesting the surfaces. Mostly they rush around on the surface, sometimes on the plants but not predominately. They do fly but not that much, or that high, mostly running around.
Can hardly see them with the naked eye (even with my glasses on) but I managed to get a picture and blow it up. I hope it gets bigger than it shows here.
Does anyone know what they are, and what should I do about them?
Looking forward to hearing.

I'm pretty sure those are fungus gnats (sciarid flies) and you generally only see them in pots indoors.
Have a look at this site for some ideas on control but they don't cause much damage other than to very small seedlings.

Their usually a sign of over watering Bob or house plants standing in water.
I'll check out the gnats. Thanks.
I doubt it's overwatering. The compost is bone dry. We've had no rain for days and our irrigation isn't functioning so all it gets is a smallish amount of water on each plant rather than generally over the area.
