Infestation of Japanese Rose beetle.
Myself and my next door neighbour are suffering from an infestation of what looks like Japanese rose beetle.
There are literally hundreds of these beetles with more than 10 to a flower eating away.
There is very little information out there regarding the UK but having caught and inspected them I can't see them being anything else. Has any one else had a similar experience?
They drop to the ground when you shake the flower and then fly back up.
At first they were only attacking the yellow roses but now they are on all my roses.
I contacted DEFRA but they said was not reportable. They even put the phone down on me when I said I was going to seek advise from a reputable garden web site.
I don't believe we are the only ones suffering from this problems. Any help would be greatly received.
