Pairing of clematis

LucidLucid Posts: 387

Hi everyone,

I've been trying to figure out which clematis plants I would like to add to my garden. I've got the idea (rightly or wrongly) that I'd like to have some pairings within pruning groups to give a bigger display. I wondered if anyone had any thoughts on my choices or know any issues that might come up with them:

GROUP 2 - Dawn and Doctor Ruppel

GROUP 3 - texensis Princess Kate and Giselle

As well as those I'd like The President to grow next to a Claire Austin climbing rose (creamy white flowers).

And I'd like a macropetala Propertious clematis to grow at the back of the pond - this is a Spring flowerer but it's been mentioned on here that it flowers again in Summer.

So aside from the majority of them being some form of pink do they seem as though they could work together? I tried to choose contrasting bloom shapes too.

I am aiming for my garden to be a wildlife garden and I know that most of these clematis aren't that beneficial for wildlife, but I'm seeing the clematis as a chance to add some extra nice flowers alongside the honeysuckles and jasmine etc.
