ID please

Hi all,

Could anyone help with an ID for the plant in the pictures below?

Its the taller one, behind the peony, next to the Iris, in the border at the front.

Not sure if its a weed, or something I should be keeping?

Thanks

Hi Graham. Not sure what it is but it sure looks like something dire has happened to it.

It looks like a peach or nectarine tree with really bad peach leaf curl.  The bad leaves will probably drop off and you get better leaves after. You have to protect the tree from rain in Spring, maybe rig a plastic greenhouse over it. Pick up any infected leaves and burn them. Do not compost as that spreads fungal infections.

    Devon.
  • Thanks for your help with that! Just moved in here and inherited it. I didn't even think of that at all, as its in quite a thin border, right near the back doors of the house. I don't suppose you know if I could move it all to a different border at all? Its around 5 foot high at the moment. Thanks

This has got a disease. I'd get rid of it. A sick plant will never be an asset to your garden

  • Ok, thanks again for your help, it shall be gone this afternoon. I guess that'll be a nice spot for something new that I can enjoy finding!

    That's the attitudeimage

Don't get a peach or nectarine, get something unrelated that can't get the peach leaf curl
