RAISED BEDS SOIL TYPE AND SUPPLIER ADVICE REQUIRED

Hi Everyone - we have recently constructed 3 raised beds made from old floor and roof joists from our recent house refurb. They total approx 21m2 growing space and 30cm high. So we need approx 6m3. But what is the best soil/ compost mixture to fill them with to grow a good range of different vegetables. Also can anyone recommend a reasonably priced supplier (West Midlands or national).

We are also planning a fruit tree and shrub border along a fence about 15 m long x 70cm. Again advice on best soil type/mix and recommended supplier please

Hi daymor. I would make those enquiries about topsoil at your local garden centre.

Thanks Ladybird I will make some phone enquiries as well. I was wondering what had worked well for others on here and advice on quality of suppliers and cost effectiveness

When I made my raised beds I just bought topsoil at my garden centre but I didn't need as much as you will. I used my own compost to add richness and my plants are doing well.
