wallflowers

My wallflowers are coming to an end and I need the border to plant up with summer bedding so I wondered if the can be dug up and be trenched ready for another seasons flowering ?

Many wallflowers are biennial, so will die after flowering, but some are perennial.

There is no reason why you could not move them.

But take cuttings anyway as they root fairly easily.  Choose non-flowering stems, cut into about 12-15cm lengths and place several around the edge of a pot of gritty compost.  Put them somewhere out of direct sunlight, water once and wait.  If you can't find any stems without flowers, nip the flowers off the end of the cutting and they may still work.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • thanks Bob I will try the stem cuttings as to punkdocs post I am unsure what types of wallflowers I have I simply bought them from my local nursery in bare root form
