Help I.D. my dwarf 'conifer' please

imageimageIs this a dwarf conifer? It appears to have 'flowered' this year which seems botanically incorrect... any ideas?

Hi there. It is not a conifer but a whipcord hebe probably Hebe armstrongii.

I agree with Ladybird4.  I have photos of one from the Botanics last year as I loved the colour and it was Hebe armstrongii and it looks as if that is what you have.  But, this is absolutely great to see one with flowers.  Lovely.

Thank you so much for this information - I knew somebody would be knowledgeable! It hasn't produced flowers in the last 3 years I have been the owner so this a real treat.
