Amelanchier problems

Help! My Amelanchier that was planted in March and was thriving until this last week has started to develop curling of the leaves (sides curling upwards and inwards) and crispy feeling leaves. The youngest leaves are looking pale and there are some red/brown blotches. The tree was planted with a good mix of manure and compost, in a clay rich soil, in an east facing full sun location. I have watered it to see if this helps (although it has been regularly watered), but sadly no recovery seen. All suggestions very gratefully received.
