Something on my acer

Hi

todayl i noticed some weird spots on my acer (please see the photo). It looks like eggs of something but could not identify it. dark grey spots look like a bug with whitr powder like substance

what are these? And shall i kill it?

    Their scale insects You'll need to squish them. Insecticidesare not particularly effective because of their tough exterior
