Clematis ID

Hi everyone,

I've come across a photo of a lovely looking Clematis which I'd be interested in getting but I can't seem to find out which one it is.

Does anyone know what it could be? I really like the shape and deep pink colour.

Thanks,

There is a website linked to Hull university that lists 3700 clematis and has a search facility - http://www.clematis.hull.ac.uk/new-clemlistsearch.cfm

I suspect it would be easier to send your picture to nurseries such as http://www.taylorsclematis.co.uk/ or http://www.kelways.co.uk/category/clematis/90/ or https://www.thorncroftclematis.co.uk/ or http://www.raymondevisonclematis.com/main/home.asp to see if they recognise it and stock it.

  • Looks like Ville de Lyon, widely available.

It does except that mine is darker than that.  More crimson on the outer edges but that may just be a problem with photo quality.

Thanks obelixx and Richard Hodson. It does look like the Ville de Lyon - except brighter in the above photo which I'm guessing could be enhancement? I've found the Ville de Luon on Taylors Clematis so will be adding it to my shopping list.

  • Some clematis are notoriously difficult to photograph, but also, on many clematis the blooms change colour as they mature, Arabella is a good example.

    Google...........Clematis Ville de Lyon.........then.........Images,

See how many different shades of red, all the same plant.

Camera, daylight, soils, I assume make a difference.
