identify a plant

Hi guys,

I am new to gardening and am interested in an evergreen climber.

Does anyone know what these are and whether they are indeed evergreens?

The photos on the left are wide shots and on the right their respective close ups

    a) may be Holboellia latifolia as it look like the leathery leaves are in groups of 3.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.
  • fantastic thanks Bob!

There are other holboellias which may also fit the bill.  Not a common plant and are sometimes known as 'sausage vines'.  Have a look at some google images, especially if you can remember what the flowers looked like.

  • thanks again Bob,

The Holboellia I photographed belongs to a neighbour of mine (he didn't know what it was either), so I'll keep an eye out for flowers or sausage fruits :)

Hello @jamietremelling, I wondered if you discovered what plant this was? Was it a Holboellia please? It looks an attractive climber.

    Original pic

Don't think it is right for Holboellia latifolia.

I wonder if it is Trachylospermum jasminoides with opposite leaves.

    See above.

Other pic seems to show alternate leaves...a different plant maybe?
It even shows tiny flower buds...top in centre

  • Hi Guys,
    @clematisdorset @Silver surfer

This one, I can confirm is a Trachylospermum Jasminoides. (I bought a few for my garden in 2016)

This one.. I agree, looks like a different plant. But I am not sure what it is though.
Jasmine is quite a slow grower. If you look at the original image, its huge. Growing up against a fairly new brick wall.
