Sorbus Aria Lutescens Whitebeam

We planted 20+ of Sorbus Aria Lutescens on our driveway last Oct/Nov. It was recommended by the nursery we bought them off as we live near the sea.

On one side we have noticed while the leaves did come out they have not curled upwards. There were 5 yesterday looking like this but today it has spread to 8. We have rang the nursery and they have no idea what could it be. We are hoping someone can help us identify the problem please?

The trees look very thirsty to me. Hard to tell the scale from your picture but newly planted trees should be watered frequently during their first year of growth and no other plants should be planted near the trunk. A circle of bare soil roughly 3 feet in diameter should surround the tree.

I pulled a leaf off to see if there were any mites but no sign. The leaf has shrivelled and there is a brown edging on the top....barely visible. Hoping it is not some sort of Fireblight.

Hi rosaleen. It may just be wind damage.

I'd agree - most likely caused by the wind, however, they look like quite sizeable trees rosaleen. If so, they will  be hard to get established, which could also be the issue, or part of it.  Normally, you'd plant much smaller specimens. Even well grown, potted trees are tricky if they're big.

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
