Hi all, We're looking to plant a small tree in our garden ideally no higher than about 15ft at maturity. It would be in quite a focal point of the garden, sunny & open site but relatively sheltered. Anyone have any suggestions?
My favourite is the Rowan also called mountain ash. I planted one in 1999 and it's about 15 feet now but with a very open canopy so not too much shade. It's called Sorbus chinese lace. The Rowans that I've planted since have been the "ordinary" native ones and I've had better berries with those so far.
They're in flower at the moment and will produce red berries in Autumn

Chinese dogwood, Spindle tree, Crab tree, Silk tree and Medlar.
Some probably around the 20ft at full height, and most of the above have spreading canopies.
Or some type of flowering cherry.
Ameliancher. Flowers in Spring, berries, and beautiful foliage in Autumn.

Dove's just planted a multi stemmed Ameliancher and it looks great.
Thanks everyone for your ideas ☺ I particularly like the sound of the Ameliancher. Time to do a bit more research!
