Poor Mr KEF. Umm, bacon roll for lunch then. I'd been wondering what to make and Wonky's stuff would mean a trip to the SM and take more effort. Lazy, me, what.
KEF / Mr KEF - ouch - that could have been very nasty - he deserves a little TLC.
For all those in the north having to water their gardens - welcome to my East Anglian world. Not for nothing did Beth Chatto design a dry garden just down the road But hot on the hills - wow - you really are having a good start to the summer.
Wonks - I like the sound of Fairy's idea of some sort of pergola style arrangement. It doesn't have to be a full pergola and you might need to leave accesses for maintaining walls etc (boring...) but perhaps a series of strong arch type structures? Nice planting BTW

Heaven is ... sitting in the garden with a G&T and a cat while watching the sun go down
Ooh just finished the lawns and it's hot, hot, hot out there. Popped in for a cool glass of water. Wonky you could try erecting a home made Sail Shade, they look quite good and you wouldn't have to keep it up the time, just when you fancied a bit of privacy.
This time next week I will be on my way to Sissinghurst and Great Dixter, really looking forward to my 4 day stay in that part of the world.

I typed that in bold but it reverted when I submitted
. Just trying again.
Weird. It must be me
.
Lesley - the problem is that when it starts to rain - it may not go off till next spring....
Wonks - could you fashion a 'pergola type thingy' (that's the correct technical term by the way) with climbers so that you're not overlooked?
KEF - have you really been bumping up the insurance on Mr KEF? 'Help, help - there's been a terrible accident...'
