Creeping pest I.D. and help please?

image

Please can you help me I.D. this? Have tried myself, but failed. Looks similar to something called "hair cap moss" but this does not seem to be viewed as a pest, and is in North America.

i need to get rid, as it is getting on my nerves. Thanks. image

It looks very much like Pearlwort (Sagina procumbens). Roundup will kill it, eventually. A flamegun will burn off the flowers and seed heads, but the plant seems to survive burning. This is what is known as a primary coloniser. It is one of the  first plants to grow on newly uncovered sites.

Oh Lordy! Thanks Berghill and Philippa! It's in my flower beds, so I could do to not use Roundup?

Have a scorcher, so can try that on the flowers

    Any other suggestions, please?

I just pull it up and keep the area regularly hoed so it doesn't get the chance to get settled in - hasn't been a major problem here. image

Hoe it off and plant something else. If it wasn't that it would be another weed, something always grows, the art of gardening is to choose what grows.

I have this weed between the slabs on my patio and its not easy to pull out so I just cut it off instead.

As yours is in the bed just pull it out and try removing all the roots in time it should decrease.
