Found when I had a look for horizontal branches (nothing of note) that it is full of large snails. They have been "re-homed" and it gives me yet another place to look on my slug and snail safaris.
Will remove the shrub once the fence on the other side is up and I see how much room there is to fill. Will most probably use something new with more flower power. Although the flowers are attractive they are pretty insignificant. I guess when I bought it I thought it would be scented.
They also get quite large. I have just had to take a chain saw to one which was over hanging the fence. the branch was over 3 inches in diameter. You can cut them right down to the ground and they regrow quite quickly.
Ooooooh Don't like the sound of that Berghill. Not a plant for a small city garden I fear. Ah well, I'll just have to start looking for something more suitable. Thanks again.

That's the one. Now I even remember where I got it from in the first place. It was part of the collection at Dunham Massey, I think.

Thanks everyone for generously trying to help.
