  • Horsetail.

The most effective weedkiller for Horsetail that I have found is Weedol - the type for use on lawns, not the one for use in borders which is a very different formulation.

    Thanks Alan,

I have tried both Weedol Rootkill Plus and Weedol Pathclear, neither of which had any success.

Which product do you suggest please?

    Thanks,

    John

You have to trample the stems to break the coating and then use glyphosate. Marestail has roots that go down miles. Good luck.

Or a company called Progreen do a product called Kurtail which I have used quite successfully. It depends on how bad it is John. The Kurtail is quite expensive if you only have a little bit.

We have a problem with it here too and I do the same as Muddle-Up now and just keep pulling the growth off.  It must weaken the roots to some degree as we've not got a complete forest of itimage.  Good luck.

Had this in my previous garden.  I just persisted in pulling it up and after 4/5 seasons it becomes very weak and just eventually loses the will to live and dies.  No chemicals used.

I have hundreds of them, all coming through a slate covering.

Sounds as though I will have to batter them and spray.
