I have a quandry

This morning I looked out and there were willow wrens all over my rose. This says to me...aphids.
My quandry now is should I spray the rose because it has aphids or leave them for the wrens because they're eating them?

I vote for the wrens
so far I'm voting for them too VS. I hope they do a good job!
At least your helpful birds are eating aphids. I caught a young blackbird and a starling meddling with my coconut cake slice yesterday
I still ate it, even the nibbled part
Hi pp. What are willow wrens? Do you just mean wrens? Definitely don't spray if wrens are eating them.
Wrens - no contest!
The wrens have it! No spraying.
VS I hope you won't take offence but anyone who leaves a coconut slice unattended....well really!
They're these wee things. Really lovely and I saw them for the first time last year. I think they may sometimes be called willow warbler. Either way they luuuurve aphids.
Yes, def. a Willow Warbler.

Thanks punkdoc.
We had aphids on the roses but we've been watching the nesting bluetits collecting them and taking them into the nest box - now the chicks have fledged and have hoovered up any remaining aphids - none left at all and the roses look really healthy - no need at all for nasty chemicals

I'd read on here about people encouraging blue tits for that reason but I'd never seen it myself until this morning.
