Small buds on roses

My roses are now budding but they all seem to have very small buds on them. Is this due to lack of food/water?  How often should roses be fed and with what?

What type of roses are they?

Hi Dove, they are all different types,  I just noticed that they were covered in greenfly and have what seem like, particularly small buds this year. Also, I do have occasions when some of my roses don't bud at all.  I don't know if I am killing them with kindness or neglecting to do something image

It depends where you are meomye, some parts of the country are ahead of others, some behind. My buds are still small but they'll grow. I wouldn't be too concerned just yet. Some roses have small buds anyway just depends on variety. Feeding regime for roses is fairly standard, spring, then after the first flush. Watering is often overlooked but its crucial right now. It's been dry for a while now apart from the odd downpour. Steady watering is more important.
