Is something sleeping in my geraniums?

2 years ago I got given some geraniums (sorry don't know which variety) that have gone mad. Grow like mad and flower like mad too. Suddenly this week it looked like something was sleeping in them or is it that they have grown so much they need dividing. 

any advice? Thank you. image

    I agree with GFF. The plants look good. After they flower shear them off to ground level and you'll get another flush of flowers.

    I saw a vixen and 4 cubs playing the other night in the garden. Could they be the culprits ?
