Magical Hydrangea

chookmomchookmom Posts: 2

Hi,

yesterday I bought a Magical Four Seasons Hydrangea (Hydrangea Macrophylla Magical) Ruby Tuesday. It is a lovely dark red colour and is to go in a container.

I asked the Garden Centre assistant if I needed special soil and she told me I would need ericacious compost which I have now bought.

I haven't yet potted it up because I then got to thinking isn't the acid soil only for making the flowers blue which I don't want.

I don't know if this applies to this particular type of hydrangea. I can't find anything about soil on the website for anything other than blue varieties.

Any help much appreciated.

Thank you

Hi chookmon. You are right and the Garden Centre assistant got it wrong. Maybe he/she was thinking back to litmus paper in Science. image

Thank you Ladybird4. I have taken the compost back and swapped it for multi-purpose. :)
