Canna lily slow to shoot

adamadamantadamadamant Posts: 278

HI I potted up a Canna bulb this year in readiness for a new hotspot I had created in the garden.  It grew a shoot about 2-3 inches tall and I planted it out, but the slugs got it immediately. Once I stopped cursing them. I potted it back up again and brought it back in thinking I would give it a chance to recover and get some real strength on before trying again. Since then a second shoot has appeared, and the first is showing sighs of regrowth, but the second shoot is still only about 2 inches tall and really shows no signs of hurrying up and getting on with it.  Should I keep this one in a pot until next spring and try again then?  It isnt going to reach any gorgeous height this year I dont think!

Hi there. I would keep it in the pot as you suggested. Give it a chance as the slugs might have another go at it if you were to plant it out again.
