I'd like to plant a tree in my North facing garden. I have a heavy clay soil. I'd like something pretty, that won't get too big. Ideas please.....

How much room have you got?
Do you go for native types for a 'rural style' garden, or do you prefer a more 'urban' ornamental look?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
