Which tool?

Hi all - appreciate thiis isn't a DIY forum, but it's very well attended by some very knowledgeable people, so we'll see what you come up with!

Hi all - I'm wanting to trim down a wooden pallisade thing (see picture) to about where the green wire is.

The stakes are semi-circular and about an inch at their thickest. What (DIY, readily-available) tool should I use? They're holding in some pretty sandy soil so anything too aggessive (rattling and shaking the stakes) might bring lots of this down (not the end of the world but worth considering).

Thanks very much!

If they're only an inch thick, a jigsaw would make prettly light work of it.  If you let it cut rather than pushing it hard the vibration would be kept to a minimum and you'll get a nice clean cut.  A chainsaw would do it in seconds but the vibration would be severe and the cut ends would be messy.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

My hubby's MR DIY owning every power tool known to man..... image

He said he'd do it with a Power saw, which you can set to the right height.

If you don't have one then a handsaw but could be trickier, depend. on what's behind it, and of course it's harder work.

How about undoing the green wire, and bumping them down into the ground with a sledgehammer?
