Nectaroscordum siculum, lovely
In the sticks near Peterborough
Oooooh! thank you so much! I've never heard of it!! Shall Google all about it now, can you dig up and divide like an agapanthus?
I have one of these and had forgotten what it was called, mine only has one flower though as i planted it last year, i think it was a bulb?, just a shame you have to bend down to appreciate the lovely flower as it hangs down, i would have thought you can split them after flowering has finished if it need moving.
One of my absolute favourites, but I left it too late to get any for this year. The seed heads are wonderful too - they turn upwards and go pointy and look like fairy castles :-)
I like the way the buds face up, the flowers then face down then the seeds stand up.
I find they self seed quite happily too.
I love them.
I thought it was an agapanthus earlier in the year! I was mightily surprised when I saw it again!! My mum said it did nothing last year at all and this year it's magnificent. I'm definitely going to get some bulbs for my garden!
