Fertiliser for shrubs?
Hi folks
Bit of a newbie but looking to give my plants a helping hand.
Can someone please advise what sort of fertiliser I should be using on a garden that is mainly evergreen shrubs? Are the 'general purpose' fertilisers like Miracle Grow suitable or is that mainly for bedding plants etc?
Some of the plants I want to apply it to:
Choisya
Aucuba japonica
Honeysuckle
Clematis
Nandina
Euonymus
Myrtus
Ligustrum
Pieris
Periwinkle
Also, random question, but can bay leaves be used in cooking straight from the tree? I only ever use dried but as I have a small bay tree it seems daft not to make some use out of it if I can!
Thanks!

Hi Bristol. The general purpose fertilisers Growmore or blood fish and bone will be good. Do not, however, use blood fish and bone on acid loving plants. So this rules out your pieris. As long as the bay tree is Laurus nobilis the leaves can be used in cooking.
Why not fish blood and bone on acid lovers?
Don't use bfb if you have foxes. They'll dig it up
Andy, bone is alkaline so not liked by acid lovers.
