Nettles are rich in nutrients especially nitrogen which all plants need. Before spraying the nettles, I'd cut off about the top two thirds and compost them, or soak them in water for a few weeks to make a liquid feed.
Nettles and thistles will both give up if you mow them down regularly. I'd leave a decent clump of them somewhere in a corner though - the birds and insects love them both.
If they are in your patio rather than the lawn then just pull them out whenever you see them. Neither is that bad, as weeds go (speaking as someone who has a lot of both).
Worst case, cover them with a double layer of cardboard, put something heavy over it (I usually use a piece of old carpet) and leave it for a year. Then take up the something heavy, leaving the cardboard in place, cover the cardboard in a thick (4 inches) layer of soil and compost and plant something into it. The odd one or two will pop up but just pull them out when you see them.
Marestail and bindweed you probably need chemicals to defeat, nettles and thistles I really don't think you do
