Water feature

Hi I have been watching the Chelsea flower show and was wondering how do they keep the water clear and clean I have a built a garden stream I have a few plants no fish I have tried a few water treatmentsports out of the garden centre but they don't last very long.is there anything that I can use that will keep the water clear

    A pump circulating through a filtration system with a uv sterilising light will do the job.

    At Chelsea I suspect they are using some pretty powerful filtration systems.  They also only have to keep the water clear for a few days and can presumably change the water if they need to.  Some also add colourants to the water to make it reflect better.
