Does anyone grow plumeria?

I'm simply desperate to grow plumeria once our conservatory is finished. Fell in love with them in Hawaii and the flowers just make me smile every time.

Just wondered if anyone else had them, and had any tips for making the best of them

My friend had them growing in her garden in Perth, Western Australia. they don't flower until they get quite large. She started from a cutting off of a friends ,fairly easy to strike in gritty compost. About five years and five feet to flowering size.

I really love them but unless you have a hothouse I don't think you will get the flowers here.

Hi clairegreenlow. I first encountered this in Malaysia where my family knew it by its other name - frangipane. I remember the beautiful scent. I've never tried growing them myself but there are sites online that will give you lots of information

I have to say, in winter all the leaves fall off and they look pretty boring. When they flower in the spring they are spectacular. around the tropics, there seem to be some that are evergreen.

  • So not a common experiment over here then? I've been having a little look, seems a lot of indoor growers try to reduce the plants' winterinf- or even eliminate it.
