I love the orange ones, they are such a clean soft orange, and look fantastic wth blues and the acid green of Alchemilla flowers. But mine will insist on coming up in the middle of a drift of red campion, or where the colour scheme is soft pinks and blues and have to be moved, which they don't like! Funny how, when they plant themselves there is always room for them to grow, but when you are looking to home one, there isn't a space to squeeze it into!
The yellow is also a lovely clean colour that goes with anything. I also have some more goldeny yellow ones, some with an orange picotee effect, which are nice. I have tried seed of the double red ones, to no effect. Possibly best to plant them where I don't want them
We also get the effects of the Gulf Stream here - just as they do in the Scilly Islands and other areas on the West Coast - but still I think of Scotland as being cold and snowy with short hot summers - so thanks for dispelling that theory Esspee - we are at other ends of the Great Britain, I no longer am able to travel but thanks for the kind offer of some of your seedlings. I have planted my seeds so hope to have some of these lovely poppies in my garden soon.

Buttercupdays, I find that if you move them when they are small they don't mind at all.
