Large Holly Tree dropping yellow leaves

Hi all,
Hoping someone can help with this major (and painful!) nuisance!!
Have an established 25-30 foot holly tree in the middle of my back yard. It drops about a yard waste paper bag to 2 of them a week right now with dead yellow leaves. Normally I wouldn't care but the sure are painful to walk on Or pick up.
Put about a half a large bag of holly tone around the drip line a few weeks ago... No help. Have pretty damp soil from an outdoor faucet drip for about a year that is now fixed. Is this the issue? Tree is in the middle of the yard and grass... Is it fighting the grass for nutrients? The leaves are bright yellow with brown spots And falling like crazy.
thanks for any suggestions on how to fix quick!!

The leaves don't last for ever - it is normal to have some leaf fall all year round, but there is often more in spring with the surge in growth.
Sounds like it could be very dry if you no longer have the dripping tap. Evergreens do drop a quantity of leaves anyway, but it sounds like a an issue with the growing conditions.
Do you get a lot of rainfall or is it generally dry where you are? Hollies grow better here with a good amount of rainfall to penetrate the dense canopy. The tree itself will cast a lot of shade and I'd think the ground could well be too dry underneath.
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Quite a few of mine are falling now, as are other evergreens. However, my holly trees aren't dropping quite as many as yours but it is in flower.

Ours are all in flower at the moment, and all drop leaves through the year, one in particular is very much like your pictures.
