Privacy hedge

Looking for recommendations for Privacy hedges for coastal cottage in Scotland???

    What you plant will depend on whether it is a north or east coast compared to a west or south coast. On the west coast there are many hedges of a quick growing fuchsia (can't remember name) and also hydrangeas.  Have a look at what's grown in the neighbourhood.

    That will withstand anything and create a sacrificial shelter belt - you can then plant inside it. 

    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I too vote for gorse.Though it is highly underestimated now.Did you know that earlier it was treated highly by the peasant farmers because of its value? Gorse acts as a shelter for the other plants especially where animals are concerned.image
