Clematis
in Plants
Looking forward to watching Chelsea this evening - (playback from yesterday) - but was pleased to hear that Montrose Clematis received yet another Gold for their display this year -

Never having been to Chelsea Flower Show I am confused as to how the Awards system actually works.
The plant exhibitors in the Floral Marquee are judged, I believe, and then awarded Gold, Silver Gilt, Silver and Bronze medals.
Does every exhibitor receive an Award ?
How many exhibitors are there in the plant display Floral Marquee ?
I notice that according to the Awards list 67 Gold medals were awarded, then a few Silver Gilt, very few Silver and Bronze.
Just curious.
I don't know the ins and outs of the award system either Richard - but perhaps looking on the website will explain. It also seems to me that most of the exhibitors receive some kind of an award. I think Montrose have received 26 golds now - that must surely be a record amount!
I can't find Montrose in the list of exhibitors, who are they ?
They are Mont Rose of Guernsey.
Mont Rose ? Not listed Do you mean Raymond J. Evison Ltd ?
They are listed.
Yes, it is Mont Rose and belongs to Raymond J. Evison Ltd. He won his 26th Gold I believe. They are one of the main exporters of plants here in Guernsey. There are still a few flower exporters here but alas not as many as there used to be.
