Mystery poppy
After 4 years of patience, the only remaining of our mysterious poppy is yet to flower. Seeds received through the RHS seed campaign. No idea what it is but certainly not the himalayan blue poppy as advertised. It measures about 30 to 40 cm
Anyone seen a similar one?
Thanks

I have never seen anything like that before but it is stunning. Please post a picture when the flower does open.
Looks great, rite little fluffy thing
Looks like Meconopsis paniculata. It grows tall ( up to four feet) and could be pink or yellow flowers. Monocarpic so it then dies. Spectacular while it lasts.
Actually, if its pink it could be M. napaulensis much the same as paniculata, but pink instead of yellow flowers. Also monocarpic.
If it flowers blue, there is M. Wilsonii, but that is newly discovered, and unlikely to be in seed from the RHS. (biennial) I doubt it is M. horridula because that is really prickly.
I do like the fluffy rosettes. Maybe next year.

Thanks for the ID. I'll post an update once it flowers and the colour will tell more about which one it is. 4 feet of beauty to come. Then collect the seeds and start all over again
I'll have some seeds if you get some. Its about 20 years since I last grew them. I had a bit of a meconopsis fest at the time. Grandis, napaulensis, horridula and paniculata.
I'm currently having a roscoea fest.
