Plant ID please

Hi

Can anyone tell me what this plant is? It is growing up my sister-in-law's fence. As you can see it has lovely colouring of the leaves in spring.

I've asked some avid gardeners but have drawn a blank so far.

Many thanks in anticipation

I've looked at that many times in books and magazines and wondered is it really that pretty (call me cynical)?

It really is that pretty. Anybody know if it's easy to grow bearing in mind I kill Japanese anemone! image

I've got a mature one on the front of my house it's gorgeous looks like it's been dipped in paint. I'm sure it would benefit from some nurture but in six years I've done nothing. Though some years a bit like magnolias I guess it's better than others. So I would say yes it's easy to look after!

think it's one of those Marmite kinda plants.

    Devon.
  • It must be easy to nurture - my sister-in-law definitely does absolutely nothing with it and it's looked fantastic for all the (few) years they've been there

I know what you mean HF. But if it's easy and it makes a pretty picture on an ugly wall....
