    Is it too thick for loppers then?  Hand saw would be the next thing I'd try then.  Good luck.

     Tell me about it!  Our house is roughcast rendered and I had to use a wire brush to try to remove all the aerial roots before the outside could be painted.  Even with my best efforts it's still possible to see the darn things through the paint. image
