Here's my floater! As you can see it sits proudly above the surface and I lined the pot with plastic so that it isn't *in* the pond so much as floating around in a bucket. I'm going to experiment with gluing gravel to the pot to disguise the black flotation part of it without weighing it down too much so that it submerged the plant.
It must work as your plant looks healthy. I guess you are not using the aquatic pots which have perforated sides? I,m going to try this with one of our plants to see how it fares. Is your pot floating, and if so, how do you prevent it from sinking?
There's a link to the type of pot I use. It's a fabric material so water can flow through but the soil stays instead. The black ring has polystyrene in to keep it afloat. I've put plastic inside the fabric to act as a barrier to the pond water so I have a little control on watering but how much that is needed I'm not sure.
They are lovely things as they can be linked together to make floating islands that drift around in the breeze.
How interesting! My pond is tiny, so I'll have to improvise with a plant pot and some polystyrene. We're just about to replant our pond so this is very timely. I'd forgotten how beautiful the flowers are, though ours are often eaten by something (slugs?) before they flower, very frustrating.
Reduced quality image to get around 5mb limit but here's an update on my plant (still floating happily in the pond). Aren't the flowers so detailed!
I'm hoping that I will soon be getting a Drosera Rotundifolia or Pinguicula Grandiflora (birthday present from my mother). Both from what I have read (which I hope is correct) thrieve in boggy areas so will be going floating pot style once they're established enough to live outside all year long.

I am looking forward to mine flowering. Slugs at least with this set up shouldn't be a problem!!
