CORNUS SANGUINES WINTER BEAUTY
in Plants
I bought this plant about two weeks ago but have been unable to plant it as yet. It has not dried out and is in a large plant pot but it has begun to turn black at the tips of branches, the growth is looking rather dull but there is a fair bit of new growth at the bottom, should I prune it hard and let it start growing again. Never grown this plant before before :-(

I don't prune this one hard, it's not as strong growing as most of those cultivars. Yes it turns black at the tips, yes it's a dull plant.
I threaten it with the shredder but it's still there because every so often it looks stunning. Not often, but just enough to avoid wipe out.
I just cut off the black bits

Thank you for your comments, looks like I bought the wrong plant. I will do as you suggest and cut off the black bits and put it in a corner somewhere and see what it does, pity, never mind, we live and learn don't we.
Maybe it will do better for you Kate. I've seen them in winter gardens looking great. They have their moments.
This is just my opinion, how I've found it. You might get something much more positive from someone else.
A lot get sold so some people must be doing better than me
