Lining a Vegetable Trug?
I have bought myself a lovely raised veg trug. It measures 1.8m*80cms*70cms and the wood is treated. Before I load in my compost do I need to line the trug with plastic, or anything else and should I add stones for drainage in the bottom of the trug? I am new to growing veg and with a poor back the raised trug idea seems brilliant.....I hope it is. Any advice greatly appreciated. Thank you.

line it with thick plastic as it'll help the wood survive longer.
never liked the idea of raised trugs as too much watering is involved, if anything I'd add water holding crystals rather than gravel as you need to hold water in the soil not let it drain
I lined a large trough-shaped wicker basket with thick binbags ( rubble sack density) which I overlapped and stapled in. The overlaps allow for drainage. It stands on bricks to stop it getting too damp underneath and to deter ants.
Year 4 and still going strong.
Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. Advice well received.......I think you know what I'll be doing this Bank Holiday!
